Bitterroot Fishing Trip

We offer fantastic private Full Day Bitterroot Fishing Trip. We tailor these private, day long singular trips to our customer needs. We only offer a full day, no half day options for this river.

Bitterroot River trips are a popular destination for fly fishing with rainbow trout being fairly prevalent and with smaller populations of brown and west slope cutthroat trout. The Bitterroot River is a tributary of the Clark Fork River in southwestern MT. It runs for about 75 miles (south-to-north!) through the Bitterroot Valley from the confluence of its west and east forks near Connor, MT and winds up in our area to flow into the Clark Fork near Missoula!

Fisherman view many species of ducks, waterfowl, osprey, bald eagles, and blue heron. Many animals frequent the river as a source of water and to graze near its banks as I-90 runs just west of the river. We customize our Bitterroot river trips to your particular needs and offer trips on three different sections. Depending on the day, weather, and fishing success, your guide will customize to what you need and then set up departure times and pick up or meet up locations.

Our Full Day Bitterroot River Fishing Trip generally floats ten to twelve miles of river. Depending on which stretch and how fast the water is flowing this trip generally takes eight hours. If you are driving with you guide (usually a pick up from Missoula) you’ll need to account for some driving time as well. The Bitterroot is a blue ribbon river attracting people from all over the world with it’s legendary hatches of salmon, caddis and mayflies, gorgeous scenery, and old cottonwood groves.

What’s Included: All fishing trips include private guide, fishing gear; this includes flies, rods, poles, tackle, and waders depending on guide and trip choice. We pack life jackets, soft drinks, water, mid day riverside lunch (for full day trips), boat or raft depending on river section, and transportation can be arranged in advance for pick up. Our trips combine fishing from boat and shore (as desired). We have room for one to two people. During the booking process, some trips allow a 3rd boat rider (youth or non fishing participant).

What to Bring: Pack sunglasses, a hat/visor, quick dry clothing, strapped sandals or water shoes, Montana fishing licenses, sunscreen, sun wear, layered clothing for spring and fall, and a swimsuit if you’d like to take a dip to cool off!
