This 12 mile raft trip provides 15 rapids and breathtaking scenery down the Alberton Gorge section of the Clark Fork River. The day starts at 10am, where you will meet at the Adventure Missoula shop located at Cyr, Montana (exit 70 off of I-90 30 minutes from Missoula). Your friendly guides who will be taking you whitewater rafting will greet you with the adequate gear needed for the raft trip. Everything is provided.

Once you are outfitted, you will be taken down to the put in and the float trip will begin! The river will greet you with class I and II rapids. Here you will practice paddle strokes, laugh with peers, and look upon the beautiful wildlife that frequent the Upper Gorge.

When the purple cliffs come into vision, you will be entering the Gorge, and the whitewater will turn into class III rapids! As the raft trip passes under triple bridges, you will start to approach our favorite rapid: Tumbleweed! Make sure to paddle hard and smile large as you go through this rapid. At the end of the raft trip you will be able to purchase pictures of your whitewater rafting experience.

After Tumbleweed, there will be an opportunity to cliff jump right above another one of our favorite rapids, Fang! Once you whitewater raft through Fang, you will pull over and enjoy a locally grown lunch next to the beautiful Fish Creek. While your guides prepare lunch, you can swim in the crystal clear water of Fish Creek.

When lunch comes to an end, we pack up the boats and head into the lower gorge. This holds the opportunity to take in the beautiful scenery around you, float through some whitewater rapids, and play games on the raft! The raft trip comes to an end at Tarkio. When we reach the takeout the guides will take you back to the shop, and your adventure with us will come to a close!

What to expect for fishing trips

Adventure Missoula offers guided fishing trips from boats and rafts geared for one or two fishermen. For any of these trips, you will meet us at our river shop, located in Cyr, MT (Exit 70 off of I-90). You and your Adventure Missoula fishing guide can decide upon the right section of the river to fish based on conditions, recent success, and time constraints. Adventure Missoula guides will work hard to put you on quality wild trout and ensure that your experience on the river is a positive one.

A homemade stream side lunch and soft drinks are included in full day trips. Your guide will supply all of the flies or tackle needed including those unique to the Clark Fork River. We encourage you to obtain a Montana Fishing license in advance of your days fishing but as a last resort we can help you obtain a license online at our shop. Waders are not really needed unless you want to get out of the boat and wade fish. There are more miles of wild trout rivers right here in Montana than any of the other lower 48 states by far. This provides a great set of options to make your fishing trip a success.

Bring a camera, jacket, hat and sunglasses. The boat has lots of storage so you are welcome to bring extra clothes and gear depending on the # of people going. Special accommodations can be made for dietary needs or setting up a raft for an extra passenger. Please let us know in advance of your fishing day. We will see you on the river!
