Learn to Fish

If you want to learn to fish a little better or learn to fish from the beginning…there is plenty to learn sitting back and watching You Tube, reading blogs, and surfing the web. After filling your mind with this knowledge, the next step is getting out on the water and actually implementing the ideas. Montana fishing and boating trips often consist of days spent casting on blue ribbon rivers for rainbow trout or floating on crystal clear mountain lakes. Here at Adventure Missoula, our guides focus on river fishing to teach efficiently how to read water, understand where fish pool up, how to cast and hook a fish, and how to properly handle and release a trout safely back to the water. After getting oriented with your instructor and guide, you will spend a day fishing, observing techniques, and practicing them. This boat fishing trip also includes fly tying techniques, pattern selection, casting, dry fly, nymph, and streamer river fishing.

This learn to fish single day course is a private customized river trip by boat that includes educational instruction, equipment, tackle and flies, lunch, and transportation; everything you need. We will contact you in advance to get more information on your experience level to tailor the packing, river stretch, and guide. Participants may reserve this trip solo or bring a friend. You’ll learn 10x the amount in a workshop or class because the education is modified to personal expectations and questions. We fish by boat to take advantage of miles of diversity of shoreline and water features.

Learning while fishing is the best way to learn to fish or improve your skills. The guides for this course are chosen for their patience, knowledge, and experience with varieties of anglers from beginner to intermediate. We will customize your experience with an expert angler to fill the gaps in learning to fish independently.
