The Combination Whitewater Fishing Trip Adventure is frequently reported as the most exciting day ever had on a fishing trip. This guide favorite boasts large fish from the Alberton Gorge (mid Clark Fork) whitewater section of the Clark Fork River. Large pools and diverse scenery designates this trip as world class. We have our river shop right at the put in since we have specialized in whitewater fishing for 20 years.

The Whitewater Fishing Experience
This beginning whitewater stretch is safe for ages 6 and up. Fish for the large fat and fiesty trout in the Alberton Gorge and enjoy going through 15 large rapids over a 12 mile day all on one river trip. We are one of the few outfitters who have a commercial fishing Alberton Gorge permit. Our commercial grade 15 foot NRS raft outfitted with casting platforms, seats, and lean bars provide the perfect comfort for fishing and rafting. A portion of the trip is spent casting streamers deep into the river behind large submerged boulders and into deep eddy lines. Dry fly action is plentiful for fishermen on this stretch of river. The Alberton Gorge is the premium whitewater run in Montana with rollicking Class II and III rapids and absolutely stunning canyon scenery. In between rapids you and your guests will enjoy the spectacular surroundings and watch for eagles, osprey, kingfishers, moose, deer, bear and mountain lions. The Gorge is an incredible and often overlooked fishery. Younger kids (ages 6 and up) and older folks can ride in bigger rafts for a milder float while people who want a wilder ride will go in smaller sport fishing boats for this legendary whitewater fishing trip. Your guide will touch base a day or two prior to arrange. After running majestic and well known rapids like Cliffside, Tumbleweed, and Fang, guests can swim, relax, fly fish, wade fish, and soak up the sun and scenery. The canyon opens up towards the end of the trip yielding beautiful views of the surrounding mountainsides.
This is our biggest and mother river as everything in the Missoula area drains into the Clark Fork on its way to the Columbia.

The Clark Fork is best thought of in three distinct sections. Upper, Mid Whitewater Fishing Trip Section (Alberton Gorge) and the Lower Section.
The Upper Clark Fork River east of Missoula begins as a meandering meadow stream that is often overlooked by anglers. This stretch of river does not hold significant trout populations until it is joined by Rock Creek. What it lacks in quantity it more than makes up for in quality. This is great streamer and hopper water for some of the prettiest brown trout you will ever see. Bug life and trout numbers improve after the confluence with Rock Creek and it is soon joined by the Blackfoot and Bitterroot near Missoula to create the broad and inspiring Lower Clark Fork. This river offers some of the best “match the hatch” dry fly fishing in the west. Mainly rainbows, cuttbows, and cutthroat congregate in large pods to feed on prolific mayfly and caddis hatches that start in June and run well into October. You will find our largest average size fish here from 16-17”, with opportunities at fish over 20” on a daily basis. And don’t let the slower currents of the Clark Fork fool you, these are the hardest fighting trout around with spectacular jumps and reel screaming runs. Many customers return each year just to hunt the heads up on the Lower Clark Fork and all the varieties and sections the Lower Clark Fork offers.
