Interested or ready for a Women’s Fly Fishing Class with Live Practice? Ladies, have you ever wanted to try your hand at fly fishing or meet some new gals that are beginning to fly fish? This one is for you. No experience is necessary, equipment is available if needed. This beginner’s day clinic will teach you everything you need to know to get a great start in the sport of fly fishing and will feature indoor education in the morning and outside live river (wading only) practice in the afternoon/early evening. Information is specific to the Missoula river area and hosted by Adventure Missoula.
If you are already a beginner angler, these classes will help fine tune and develop a few new skills and techniques. This women’s fly fishing class will also allow you to make some connections with other women and learn from two local expert fly fishing guides.
This class features a full day 8 hour clinic designed to build a fly fishing foundation through basic practical education, building confidence in personal skills, and live practice. It is geared for those individuals with little to no fly fishing experience, but some foundation knowledge. The day clinic experience is about learning the fly fishing basics and everything you will need to get you on the water, strategize your outing, and fishing on your own.
Taught by local guides, Jared Forsythe and Jake Putnam, class size is limited to 5 to 10 gals so we can provide both group and individual instruction opportunities. A day clinic’s more individualized attention is critical for fly fishing. We can read, watch, and learn, but the action comes next and a sense of self awareness is important in casting and fishing and well…..because we’re not always doing what we think we’re doing. To paraphrase Moshe Feldenkrais, “When you know what you’re doing, you can do what you want.”
